Python
Readable code for automation and scripting.
7 parts · 7 labs · about 6 hours
Part 1: Starting out
Values and names, the numbers that cost money if you round them wrong, building readable text, and how to read an error.
Part 2: Reading Python
Blocks, lists and dictionaries, the traps that catch newcomers, and your first functions that run.
Part 3: Decisions and loops
Conditions in the right order, refusing bad input early, building a result from a list, and the falsy-zero trap.
Part 4: Collections
Slicing and sorting, dictionaries that count and group, sets for uniqueness, and the copy that was not a copy.
Part 5: Functions
Arguments and defaults, the default that remembers too much, returning rather than printing, and passing a function to a function.
Part 6: Text
Cleaning what people type, splitting a line into fields and back, and building slugs and references that are safe to use.
Part 7: When things go wrong
Catching the failure you expected and only that one, raising errors worth reading, and cleaning up whatever happens.
